Two Toke - Violets
Following a release on Ratface Records, Two Toke makes his Maison Fauna debut with emotive single, “Violets.” Pulling from influences such as Sully and LMajor, “Violets” is a complicated amalgamation of Jungle, Intelligent Drum & Bass, and Breakbeat with a surprising amount of delicacy and ambience. Deeply imbued with the 90s style, all of Two Toke’s work has this floaty, dream-like quality that makes you feel wholly submerged in the the bluesy guitar and carefully-crafted, lazy, lush pads. There’s a sense of nostalgia, and even melancholia, in “Violets” that makes it feel as timeless as it is versatile. After all, very few tracks can inspire what “Violets” can: deep calm and an undeniable urge to rave. With more releases upcoming from Two Toke — including another single with Maison Fauna come August — this is just the tip of the iceberg for this Bristol-based producer.
